About

As an independent book editor with more than a decade of experience working with both new and established writers, I enjoy editing all genres of writing–particularly literary fiction, science fiction, horror, historical fiction, and YA. Guiding writers to truly discover their voice and flesh out their stories is an absolute joy.
Good communication is a big part of the editor-writer relationship. My goal is always to consider a writer’s vision and voice while conveying ways a manuscript can be honed to present the best story possible. My editorial feedback is thorough, constructive, and thoughtful. I believe a writer should know exactly how to move forward with their novel revisions after working with me.
My background is a mix of traditional education paired with real-world experience. This means I bring something different to the editing world. I spent fourteen years as a Firefighter, both stateside and overseas while building my editing business and attending school. I am a former Virginia Poet Laureate with a master’s in Library & Information Science from the University of Alabama, a post-grad cert in Museum Studies from Harvard Extension School, and a bachelor’s in English/ Creative Writing from George Mason University. I’m currently working on an M.A. in WWII Studies through Arizona State University in conjunction with the National WWII Museum.
